Change of Omaha aims to eliminate systemic inequities and ensure the health and well-being of our community by engaging in programs and initiatives dedicated to eradicating food insecurity, prioritizing classroom readiness, and providing basic needs at the grassroots level.
Charita J. Dailey is a driven, dynamic nonprofit development professional who serves as Chief Theory Architect for Change of Omaha. Charita is an Omaha-native who graduated from Omaha Central High School.
Additionally, she is a spring 2020 alumna of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a spring 2022 alumna of The University of Kansas with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology.
Charita is a proponent of self-determination within the Black community and supports community-based solutions to the challenges that we face including food insecurity, mental health support, and youth development.
Outside of her community work, Charita enjoys traveling and adventure excursions, reading, and spending quality time with loved ones.
Kyiia, a 2019 graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communications, specializing in Advertising and Public Relations. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Integrated Mass Media, concentrating on Public Relations and Social Media while working at WOWT 6 News. Kyiia’s professional background includes work in athletic communications, broadcast media sales, and sports branding.
Apart from her involvement with Change of Omaha, Kyiia is a co-founder and marketing director for the Racial Justice Coalition of Nebraska (RJC). The RJC is dedicated to combating racial bias in sentencing and convictions through nonpartisan legislation and research, notably recognized for leading the campaign Send Earnest Home. Kyiia’s dedication lies in community engagement, fostering unity, and cultivating meaningful connections.
During her leisure time, Kyiia finds joy in watching documentaries, exploring new destinations, and cherishing moments with her loved ones and her dogs, Bentley and Royce.
DaShawn J. McGary is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, conferred with a Finance emphasis. He is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of Divine Living, a home and community services-based agency through Medicaid that assists community members with developmental disabilities in Nebraska and Iowa.
DaShawn is a board member of Sheltering Trees, Inc., and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. DaShawn engages in initiatives around Omaha that promote achievement, social action, health awareness, and programming focused on addressing food insecurity. DaShawn builds new partnerships and maintains current partnerships between Change of Omaha and other organizations that are dedicated to racial equity, climate justice, and eradicating food insecurity in hopes of building a better future for the city of Omaha.
Of all his commitments, family is the most important to DaShawn. In his free time, he loves to travel, shop, and spend quality time with loved ones.
